Telegram Mini App for learning English — 54 lessons, 6 practice modes, streaks and offline-first progress. Designed and built solo, just launched in open beta.
Language apps live outside daily messaging flow: heavy lessons, paywalls and installs kill the habit before it forms — especially for beginners who need 3-minute sessions, not 30-minute marathons.
Core Challenge: Ship a complete learning loop inside Telegram's constraints as a solo designer-developer: structured curriculum, multiple practice modes, streaks and progress — zero install friction, fixed dark TMA viewport.
Lightweight Mini App: 54-lesson curriculum chain with level gates, 6 practice modes (flashcards with second-chance round, choice, typing, listening with 500 audio files + TTS fallback, sentence building, auto-generated phrases), XP / streaks / achievements / dictionary — synced via Telegram CloudStorage + LocalStorage with a server snapshot.
The daily habit loop centers on a single home screen with instant level progress, XP counters, streak calendar, and topic catalogs. Lessons offer four focused practice modes — Cards, Choice, Writing, and Audio — supplemented by sentence construction and auto-generated phrases. Flashcards use tactile swipe mechanics with second rounds for missed words, while listening exercises autoplay with smooth TTS fallback.
Zero install inside a daily habit beats store discovery — especially for a solo launch with no marketing budget.
Telegram clients force light themeParams unpredictably; locking dark from the first frame kept contrast and flashcards readable.
Sequence (level + order + required words, deadlock-free) guides beginners; an open dump of 54 lessons would paralyze them.
Just launched in open beta — all lessons free while collecting feedback. No retention metrics yet by design; the shipped scope (design to code by one person) is the result. Next: feedback loop via channel, then Stars paywall and spaced repetition.
